Our Philosophy
We are often asked why we build our instruments this way, why we don't use „normal“ wooden bodies and what the advantages of carbon necks are. Often times we see sceptical reactions when we explain how our Bogart Basses are built, and they grow more sceptical when we talk about epoxy foam or carbon fibre. But the sceptisicm quickly cedes to a wide grin when that person straps on the bass and plays the first notes.
Our company history has often been confronted with words like „plastic basses“ and „plastic necks“. For instance our necks, for the most part, consist of carbon fibre. But carbon fibre is just carbon in its' pure form – wood is also carbon, just in another form. Many musicians associate the word „plastic“ with a cheap and negative image. There are manufacturers that build their instruments with similar materials, but unfortunately the results aren't very good and many bassists and guitarists feel their prejudices towards modern materials are confirmed.
Crucial for a good sounding bass – especially when not using the conventional materials like wood – is the quality of its' individual parts. But that alone is not enough: one must also know how the components are best combined to achieve the best results. We have this Know-How. The individual parts of our instruments are the result of extensive (sometimes years) of development. Therefore we can proudly say that our carbon necks are the measure of all things compared to necks of other carbon fibre instrument manufacturers. The composition of our Bogart Bodies is as unique as it is great sounding. We have researched the vibration characteristics of various materials and combined them in the Bogart Bass to produce a warm and growling sound, yet with a sensational response in the tonal area. Adding the percussive properties of the carbon neck, the Bogart Bass is the perfect allrounder with great results for all styles.
Bogart – The Creative Tool: Creativity always requires a medium by which it can be expressed. Of course with creative bassists that is primarily his or her instrument. Many artists say they love their instrument, becoming one with it when they are standing on stage and playing. They feel that their instrument can express what they create. We strive to give the creative bass player a medium that does not limit or hinder that artist. That's why the Bogart Bass sounds like it sounds: like the bassist playing it. It adds nothing, takes nothing, and doesn't embellish anything. Through this fabulous resonance this new horizon will open up new creative avenues for most bassists. The exemplary ergonomics of the Bogart with it's low string height make it one of the easiest basses to play by far. Bogart – The Creative Tool!
